RedLeg Spiced Rum

July 1st, 2012

RedLeg rum is a new spiced Caribbean rum produced by Blavod Wines and Spirits who are best known for their signature Blavod vodka.

The following is from RedLeg’s promotional material:

RedLeg is a premium Caribbean rum, blended with spices. It is distilled in the Caribbean and then brought to the UK for bottling. The secret to the great tasting flavour is down to the blending. The Rum is left to rest in old oak barrels and infused with Jamaican Vanilla and Ginger creating a very smooth tasting rum with a hint of sweet spice.

RedLeg incorporates the motif of the RedLeg Hermit Crab native to the Caribbean and named for its bright legs. It captures the spirit of Caribbean culture being laid back with an “Irie” attitude, without a pirate in sight. Which makes it the perfect drink to be enjoyed with friends.

Nose:    An instantly sweet smell of vanilla, followed by warming ginger aroma.

Taste:    Initial sweetness on the pallet, followed by a bite of ginger.

Refreshingly, satisfying combination of sweet and spice with a warming mouth feel.

Serve:   Simply serve over ice with a splash of cola and a twist of lime

We were advised to try it in a ‘RedLeg Apple & Ginger‘ and we must say it was delicious, here’s the recipe:

50ml RedLeg Spiced Rum

50ml Cloudy Apple Juice

Top with Ginger beer, a squeeze of lime and finish with ice

The rum is on sale now for around £20 and to find out what we thought of it, please read our RedLeg Review
